JOIN US IN THE FIGHT AGAINST SEX TRAFFICKING OF CHILDREN AND TEENS!

THE HUMAN TRAFFICKING ISSUE

Human trafficking is a $150 billion criminal industry that ensnares millions of people worldwide. Children and teens are especially at risk – nearly 27% of trafficking victims globally are children. In the United States, tens of thousands of minors are exploited each year in modern-day slavery.

WHAT WE DO

One Bread Foundation, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to providing monetary support for the rehabilitation of children and teens rescued from trafficking, while serving as a vocal advocate for stronger laws and educating our communities with the knowledge to confront this escalating crisis.

HOW WE DO IT

Rehabilitation: Healing Survivors

Rescue is the beginning of a long journey. Rehabilitation focuses on restoring the health, hope, and independence of survivors. Trafficked children endure severe mental, emotional, and physical trauma, and need comprehensive support to rebuild their lives.

  • Deep Trauma: Nearly 98% of survivors exhibit at least one mental health disorder—over 50% experience PTSD, and more than 90% battle depression, along with anxiety, nightmares, and complex trauma.
  • Physical Toll: Almost all survivors (99%) suffer significant health problems—from injuries and malnutrition to chronic pain and untreated illnesses.
  • Lost Childhood & Education: Victims often miss out on schooling and normal life experiences, resulting in educational gaps and enduring stigma.
  • Top Needs – Therapy & Support: Mental health services and supportive counseling are critical to help survivors cope with trauma and rebuild trust.
  • Breaking the Cycle: Comprehensive rehabilitation—safe housing, counseling, medical care, and life-skills training—can dramatically reduce the 80% re-victimization rate, giving survivors a chance at stable, independent lives.

Advocacy: Driving Change and Ensuring Justice

Advocacy focuses on transforming laws and systems to protect survivors and hold traffickers accountable.

  • Legal Progress & Gaps: While all 50 states criminalize human trafficking, only about 17 states have safe-harbor provisions that protect minors from prosecution for crimes committed under duress.
  • Bringing Traffickers to Justice: Despite increasing federal prosecutions (e.g., 1,118 traffickers convicted in 2022), conviction rates remain low compared to the vast scale of exploitation.
  • Advocating for Survivors’ Rights: We push for increased funding for victim services, expungement of criminal records, and stricter penalties for traffickers to ensure true justice.

Education: Raising Awareness and Empowering Communities

Education empowers communities to recognize and prevent trafficking, thereby reducing opportunities for exploitation.

  • Knowledge is Power: Community training, school programs, and professional education (for teachers, healthcare workers, hotel staff, etc.) help people spot warning signs early.
  • Impact on Reporting: One major public awareness campaign boosted hotline reports by 20%, leading to more tips and early victim identification.
  • Community Involvement: Everyone can contribute—by supporting One Bread Foundation, contacting lawmakers, or sharing vital information on social media—to create a safer environment for our children.

WHY WE DO IT

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
— Matthew 25:40 (NET)

As a faith-based organization, we believe every child is precious and deserving of compassion. Inspired by Matthew 25:40, we recognize that caring for the vulnerable is an act of service to God Himself. This conviction undergirds our commitment to rescue, rehabilitate, and advocate for children who have endured trafficking, ensuring that no child is overlooked or forgotten.
